Current officers of the ASU Chapter of the MAA
The Mathematical Association of
America (MAA) is the largest professional society that focuses on
mathematics accessible at the undergraduate level. MAA members include
university, college, and high school teachers; graduate and undergraduate
students; pure and applied mathematicians; computer scientists; statisticians;
and many others in academia, government, business, and industry. The MAA
welcomes all who are interested in the mathematical sciences.
The ASU Student Chapter of the MAA was launched in Spring 2004 to provide
opportunities to meet with other students interested in mathematics, interact
with Math/Stat faculty, encourage students to continue study in the mathematical
sciences, and provide career information in the mathematical sciences.
There are no scholastic requirements, and students need not be mathematics
majors.
Meetings and events of the ASU Student Chapter of the MAA are open to
everyone! Each semester, we sponsor the MAA Seminar Series, with talks
given by mathematicians, statisticians, and scientists. Goodies are served
at every meeting. ( Come for the food if nothing else.) We are also the
proud sponsors of the Graduating Seniors Reception and Ice Cream Social every
semester. Join us!
Participation in the ASU Student Chapter of the MAA requires no membership
fee! Students interested in becoming formal undergraduate members of
the MAA can complete the
membership application and send the $25 membership fee directly
to the MAA in Washington, D.C. Your MAA Membership includes several
wonderful MAA publications. Be sure to note your MAA Membership on
graduate school applications and job resumes!
